Vision Development Foundation {VDF}, a Non- Governmental Organization {NGO} founded in 2006, on Feb. 10, 2013 continued its road rehabilitation exercise within the communities of Latrikunda Sabiji and Faji Kunda.
The process takes the form of filling portholes on main roads.
Momodou Touro Darboe, the Chief Executive Officer VDF told The Voice he inherited the philanthropist gesture from his late father, who he said was very instrumental in giving out assistance to the people within and outside the community.
He said it is necessary for him to continue the legacy of his late father.
“So far VDF has filled portholes of dozens of streets and the main roads within Faji Kunda, where both pedestrians and motorists found it very difficult to pass due to stagnant water,” Mr Darboe said.
In these areas the inhabitants to find it very difficult to go about their businesses during the rainy season, he said. The VDF will continue to stretch its gesture to other areas within Kanifing Municipal Council {KMC}.
The Alkalo of Latrikunda Sabiji, M.L. Jatta alias Master, commended Darboe for a job well done and calls on all Gambians to emulate him.
Master Jatta said as government cannot do it all, every citizen has an obligation to contribute whatever good gesture to help in the development of the country.
He said the main road is very important to commuters within Latrikunda and Sukuta and would help ease the accessibility to the grave yard and the Primary School within Latrikunda.
The VDF has been involved in road and stress rehabilitation within Faji-Kunda and its surrounding and also sponsored needy students and supplying hospitals and schools with equipments.
